How to DIY Your Spa Night at Home

Like many other people, (especially women) I have a tendency to place myself low on my priority list and I’m beginning to be more conscious of the negative effect this has on my ability to take care of others. So, I’ve decided that I’m going to make it a priority to spend a little time each week doing something for myself that is soothing, relaxing and restorative. One of my favourite ways to carve out a little time for me is by taking one hour each week to have a simple spa night at home. I know myself well enough to know that if I try to fit too much into these nights I will find reason to avoid them, so I take a simple approach that requires very little time or effort to set up, so I can sit back, relax and recharge my internal batteries.

Make a Playlist

Relaxing

The perfect stay in spa night starts with the right playlist. Choose soothing songs that will make you feel calm and relaxed, focused on the activity you are doing at the moment instead of anything else that could be causing you unnecessary stress.

Make sure to choose songs that go well together and that your playlist last at least 45 minutes. You deserve this time to relax!

Prepare Snacks

Preparing light snacks to enjoy while you relax is a crucial step in your DIY spa night. Choose food that will make you feel fresh and detoxed, like recently cut fruits (our favorites are a mix of strawberries, cherries, kiwis, and grapes) and fruit-flavored water or lemonade.

Run a Bath

Pick the water temperature that you like, and add in some epsom salts or bubble bath. Then roll up one of the towels to use a neck support and sink in and enjoy.

Make sure your kids know not to disturb you.
If you can, dim the lights, you don’t want it too dark but soft light can be really soothing.
Try not think about anything – let your mind drift. This is a worry and stress free zone.
Bring some water with you – staying hydrated is important, especially if you like hot baths.

Choose a Face Mask

Choosing the right face mask is the center step to your DIY spa night. First, you should determine what kind of mask your skin needs. Do you have dry or oily skin? Do you want to exfoliate or moisturize? Do you want something to help your acne or maybe clear your pores?

Since we all have different skins, we all have different face mask needs. Choose the one you think will be right for you, which can buy or even make yourself! Making masks can be really fun in and of itself.

Relax

Now, this could actually be the most important step. Truly try to relax. Pick your fluffiest towel or your softest pajamas, lay down over your favorite pillows and comfiest blanket and turn your phone off or put it away for a while.

Focus just on yourself, in the music, the mask in your face, the scent of the candles. Take a moment to examine your thoughts, the things that might be bothering you or even the ones that you simply find interesting. We spend so much time worrying that sometimes we forget to take a moment to really just celebrate ourselves. Make sure you do and have a good time!

We hope you found these tips for the perfect DIY night useful! They will make your face look and feel bright, fresh, and healthy. Whether you follow my advice and have an at home spa night, or have your ow way of relaxing, be sure to set aside at least an hour for yourself each week. Rest, relax, and recharge those internal batteries. You deserve it!
