Resolutions 5. Lose weight

We all want to be a super skinny bride when it comes to the big day, but don’t let your ambition to be thin make you a starving bridezilla, or worse yet, harm your beautiful body. More exercise, less sweets, and mainly, more self love. Walking down the aisle feeling fit and trim will be worth the hard work and exercise!

Resolutions 6. Drink more water

Water is the basis of life – and most of us don’t drink enough of it. Your body loses 1-1.5 litres of it every day – more if you are doing exercise or moving around. And because water is such a big part of our bodies it is a good idea to keep hydrated. Eight glasses of day is a bit of a myth, but it is true that staying hydrated is good for your skin and brain, if nothing else – so two great reasons to drink more water!

Resolutions 7. Be more organised

Make this new year a year of balance: spend equal amounts of time on work and play, organising and indulging. Whether you prefer all digital planning, keeping a paper planner, or a combination of both, find a system that works for you and use it. Having your contracts, contacts, invoices, and receipts organized will keep you sane during your wedding week.

Resolutions 8. Learn to delegate

Your fiance, bridesmaids and family are all there to help. But you don’t have to relinquish all control, start a list of things you need to do and see who would be best to tackle them. Letting your Mom help you research venues, your groom audition bands, or asking your bridesmaids to help you call rehearsal dinner caterers, will allow others to be involved and you to relieve some of the pressure.

Resolutions 9. Listen to everyone’s opinions

However, don’t make decisions about your wedding day without your groom. Even if your parents are paying for the entire wedding, don’t make any major decisions without consulting your fiancé first. And, your mother’s taste in yellow bridesmaid dresses may not be your cup of tea, but her suggestion to turn your great-mother’s brooches into the sweetheart table centerpiece is fantastic. Don’t shut down the ideas of others trying to help without at least hearing them out.

Resolutions 10. Remember to enjoy yourself

The engagement period of your relationship can be a ball of emotions, but it also flies by. Remember to stop and take it all in. The wedding events and the people you spend them with will be memories you’ll cherish forever. Remember to enjoy yourself. This is supposed to be a joyful occasion. Don’t forget that!
